  • Concrete unit masonry

With thermal mass and high specific heat, concrete masonry walls remain warm or cool long after heat or air-conditioning has shut off. This can effectively: reduce heating and cooling loads; improve occupant comfort by moderating indoor temperature swings; and shift peak heating and cooling loads to off-peak hours.

The high heat capacity of concrete masonry can play a role in designing Thermal Storage Walls to contribute to passive thermal in emergencies.
