Construction Waste Management

To reduce construction and demolition waste disposed of in landfills by recovering, reusing, and recycling materials. Prevent the generation of waste materials.

  • 100% recyclable
  • Reusable as aggregate
  • Unused product may be diverted to other projects

Concrete masonry units, pavers, and segmental retaining units are completely recyclable when crushed and used as aggregates for base material or in other concrete products. These credits are attainable for either demolished installations, or the waste and scraps from new construction.

Undamaged, unused new product delivered to the job site may be diverted to and used in other projects.

CMU and paver products are stored and shipped on reusable pallets that may be returned to the manufacturer. At approximately 45 - 50 lbs. each and potentially hundreds involved on a typical project, that's thousands of pounds to include in diversion calculations.

LEED v4.1 gives point preference to waste prevention above waste diversion. Unitized materials inherently prevent excessive material use.
